ABOUT THE BOTTEGA FAMILY WINE PORTFOLIO

The Bottega family are proud of their Italian heritage and are active participants in the Italian community in South Africa. Their decision to plant Italian varietals as part of their diversified portfolio of grapes, and actively promote these grape varietals in South Africa, is a celebration of this heritage. The Bottega Family own Whalehaven in Hermanus, Idiom in Stellenbosch, Vinotria (which imports wines from Italy) and the Clifton Gin Collection.

IDIOM WINES

The range of wines provides a unique and direct comparison between the famous French wines of Bordeaux and the Rhone, Tuscany and Piedmont, but expressed in the Cape terroir. With 19 varietals grown on the estate, the Idiom Collection is a selection of our best single varietals and blended wines. At Idiom, we favour lesser seen single varietals and iconic classic blends.

WHALEHAVEN WINES

Whalehaven Wines is the third oldest wine producer in the Hemel-en-Aarde region and is one of the first stops for exceptional Merlot. The wines are hand-crafted to celebrate each harvest and to reflect the particular nuances of each varietal.

Over time, Whalehaven has gained a strong reputation for its French-styled Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, creating wines which evoke the elegance and reserve of fine French Burgundies here in South Africa. These classic Burgundian varietals are icons of the Hermanus region, however, these wines are rapidly sold out due to the limited size of their releases.

THE CLIFTON COLLECTION

Inspired by Cape Town and our love of the ocean, Clifton Cape Gin encapsulates the spirit of the Cape. The Clifton Collection of signature gins echo the series of exclusive beaches each at the bottom of its own cliff. Clifton Beach is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and an icon of the Cape.

We are passionate about producing a rare collection of botanical gins that represent the love we have for Clifton, the Cape, and our lovely oceans.
